Alternate EMC Table ID Maintenance

Use Alternate EMC Table ID Maintenance for two purposes.  First, you can use this routine to maintain an Alternate EMC Table for a provider whose billing claims should not be submitted electronically.  In addition, you can maintain an Alternate EMC Table if you need to submit claims for a specific provider using a different EMC table.  For example, you may have a group of providers whose claims are being processed with EMC Table A, but one provider within the group needs different EMC Table information.  You can use the Alternate EMC Table Maintenance to assign the appropriate EMC Table to that provider.

Tips:  

• Often you will maintain an Alternate EMC Table ID for a new provider who is not ready to have their billing claims submitted electronically.  For example, if you have a new provider who has not received their billing numbers from the insurance carriers or who has not received their state certification yet, you can maintain an Alternate EMC Table for the provider and leave the Alternate EMC Table ID field blank.

• Opening Alternate EMC Table ID Maintenance, click More.

   

  1.  Click Billing Functions from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click Communications.

  3.  Click File Maintenance.

  4.  Click Alternate EMC Table ID.

   

      Advanced Methods:
  Click the following sequence:
  Billing Functions from the Menu Bar; Menu Panel; File Maintenance on the Menu Bar; and Alternate EMC Table ID.

• Creating a New Alternate EMC Table ID, click More.

   

  To create a new record choose one of these methods:

  • Enter the new EMC Table ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]

  • Or, enter the new EMC Table ID and click File from the Menu Bar; next click New.
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [n]

  Tip:  To indicate that you are building a new Alternate EMC Table, New  displays near the EMC Table ID.  Default entries display and the first field is highlighted to let you know you can begin entering information.

   

  Alternate EMC Table ID Maintenance Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  EMC Table ID	Enter the defined EMC Table ID for the provider. (up to 9 characters)
  Provider ID	Enter the identification for the provider. (up to 4 characters)
  Data Source	To specify the Data Source for the Alternate EMC Table, click a choice in the drop-down list.
  	To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]
  	CAUTION To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.
  	Note:  Search is not active during this maintenance.
  	To display an existing Alternate EMC Table, enter the EMC Table ID, Provider ID and Data Source and click Retrieve, or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Alternate EMC Table ID	Enter the EMC Table ID as the Alternate EMC Table to direct the Provider's claims to a different EMC Table. (up to 9 characters) Note:  To prevent the provider's claims from being billed electronically, leave this field blank.

   

• Editing an Existing Alternate EMC Table ID, click More.

   

  CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.

  1.  To display the record to be changed, enter the EMC Table ID, Provider ID and Data Source that makes up the Alternate EMC Table ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]

  2.  To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.

  3.  Enter the data changes.

  4.  To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER].
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]

   

• Deleting an Existing Alternate EMC Table ID, click More.

   

  1.  To display the record to be deleted, enter the EMC Table ID, Provider ID and Data Source that makes up the Alternate EMC Table ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]

  2.  Click File from the Menu Bar, and next click Delete.
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [d]

  3.  At the Delete Records prompt, click Proceed to delete the record, or click Cancel to escape from the delete routine.
