Device Type Maintenance

Use Device Type Maintenance to maintain descriptions for the types or general classifications of devices used by your utility.  For example, types of devices can be double check valve, pressure vacuum breaker valve or ball valve.

Directions:

To open:

 

1.  Click Daily Work from the menu.

2.  Click File Maintenance.

3.  Click Code Maintenance.

4.  Click Miscellaneous Maintenance.

5.  Click Device Type Maintenance.

Device Type Maintenance Prompts

 

Device Type ID

To create a new device type enter the new device type ID (up to 5 characters) and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]

 

To view all of the device types set up, click Search .  From the Search list you can select the record to change or delete.  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + r]

Tips:

  • Or, enter the new device type ID and click File from the menu; next click New.
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [n]

  • To indicate that you are building a new device type, New New Record displays near the device type ID.  Default entries display and the first field is highlighted to let you know you can begin entering information.

Title

Enter the title associated with the type of device. (up to 20 characters)

Description

Enter the full description for the type of device. (up to 40 characters)

To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER].

Editing Device Types

 

CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.

1.  Enter the device type ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].

Tip
:  If you do not know the device type ID, you can click Search  to see a list of device types.

2.  Enter the data changes.

3.  To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER].

Deleting a Device Type

 

1.  Enter the device type ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].

Tip
:  If you do not know the device type ID, you can click Search  to see a list of device types.

2.  Click File from the menu, and next click Delete.
Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [d]

3.  At the Delete prompt, click Proceed to delete the device type, or click Cancel to escape from the delete routine.
