Search Code Key

Use Search Code Key to determine the method used to build each license holder's search code.  The Search Code Key controls the number of letters from the license holder's last name, first name and middle initial to include when creating their search code.  The license holder's search code allows you to search alphabetically for license holders.  Searching is helpful if you do not know the licensee's Holder ID.

Ways to create the Search Code Key:

• Use the first 6 letters of the last name, followed by the first 4 letters of the first name and no middle initial

• Or, use the first 5 letters of the last name, first 4 letters of the first name followed by the middle initial

• Opening Search Code Key, click more.

   

  • From the Menu Bar click File Maintenance, and next click Search Code Key.

  • Or, use the keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [m] [r]

   

• Creating or Editing the Search Code Key, click more.

  NOTES:

  • The total number of search characters can not exceed 10.

  • There is only one Search Code Key record allowed.

  Search Key Code Entries
  Last Name	Enter the number of letters from the license holder's last name to include in the voter search code (2.0).
  First Name	Enter the number of letters from the license holder's first name to include in the voter search code (2.0).
  Initial	Enter the number of letters from the license holder's middle initial to include in the voter search code (1.0).
  Total Characters	Displays the total number of characters used to build the search code based on your entries above.   NOTE:  This may not exceed 10 characters.
  	To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER]. Caution: If you forget to click Save, you may lose your changes. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]
