Insurance

Enter the patient's Insurance Code to bill for the service. (up to 5 characters)

Or, enter 1, 2, or 3 to bill the patient's assigned first, second or third insurance code for the charge.  

Note:  The patient's assigned Insurance Codes display in the Patient Guarantor Area for your reference.

A/A

Displays the Insurance Code's Accept Assignment value if entered during Insurance Maintenance.  Press [TAB] to accept or enter Y to accept assignment or enter N do not accept assignment. (1 character, Y or N)

Note:  Accept Assignment determines whether a HCFA claim form and or a private statement prints for the charge being entered.

Diagnosis 1

Enter the first Diagnosis Code for this charge. (up to 9 characters)

Procedure

Enter the Procedure Code associated with the service performed for this charge.

To create a new Procedure Code within Procedure Maintenance, arrow to New and press [Enter]. (up to 9 characters)

To edit an existing Procedure Code, arrow to Edit and press [ENTER].

To search for the Procedure Code, arrow to Search and press [ENTER].

Note:  You can only enter one Procedure Code per line (charge).

Modifier

Displays the Procedure Code as the default value for the Procedure Modifier.  Press [TAB] to accept or to add a modifier, enter the modifier at the end of Procedure Code. (up to 9 characters)

EXAMPLE:  Procedure Code 99213 requires a modifier of 25, enter the Procedure Modifier as 9921325.

Note:  Change the Procedure Modifier only to add a Modifier.

Procedure Description

Displays the Procedure Description.  Press [TAB] to accept or enter another description, if applicable. (up to 40 characters)

Anesthesia

Note:  The Anesthesia fields are active only if the procedure's Anes field is set to Yes.

Start Time

Enter the time that anesthesia was started, if applicable. (up to 6 characters, hh:mm, AM or PM)

EXAMPLE:  To enter 4:30 in the afternoon, enter 430 press [Spacebar], then enter PM.

End Time

Enter the time that anesthesia was stopped, if applicable. (up to 6 characters, hh:mm, AM or PM)

EXAMPLE:  To enter 4:30 in the afternoon, enter 430 press [Spacebar], then enter PM.

Base Units

Displays the default value for the base units for this procedure.  Press [TAB] to accept or enter another base unit amount. (3.0 numeric)

Time Units

Displays the procedure's Time Units calculated from the Start Time and Stop Time entered above.  Time Units is calculated by dividing the elapsed time by 15 minutes (1 base point unit) and is used to calculate the procedure's UTS.

T#

Enter the Tracking Number for this charge, if applicable. (up to 20 characters)

Fee

Displays the Standard Fee for this procedure or the Alternate Fee for the Insurance's Form Type if entered during Procedure Maintenance.  Press [TAB] to accept or a different Standard Fee. (7.2 numeric)

TS

Displays the Type of Service Code assigned to the procedure.  Press [TAB] to accept or enter another Type of Service Code. (2.0 numeric)

Note:  Each procedure must have a Type of Service or the charges will be rejected during the billing process.  NDS recommends only changing the procedure's Type of Service Codes during Procedure Maintenance.

UTS

Displays the default value for the Number of Units for this procedure.  Press [TAB] to accept or enter the Number of Units, if applicable. (2.1 numeric)

Note:  For Anesthesia procedures, UTS is calculated by adding Base Units and Time Units.

P. Total

Displays the Procedure Total, which is calculated by multiplying the UTS (Number of Units) by the procedure's Fee amount. (4.0 numeric)

To complete the charge transaction detail line, after entering or accepting the Number of Units click the Add Line button.

To complete entering charges for this patient, after completing entering of each line, click the End Charges button.
