Location CLIA Number Maintenance

Use Location CLIA Number Maintenance to maintain the facility's CLIA number if your facility performs laboratory tests.  The CLIA number only needs to be maintained if your organization performs laboratory tests for patients.  CLIA refers to Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.  Congress passed the CLIA in 1988, establishing quality standards for all laboratory testing to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of patient test results, regardless of where the test was performed.  

Tips:  

• If your organization have multiple locations or departments where some departments process lab tests and others do not, you can create a location set record for the departments that do and maintain the CLIA number there.

• Opening Location CLIA Number Maintenance, click More.

   

  1.  Click File Maintenance from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click Standard Maintenance.

  3.  Click Location Maintenance.

  4.  Click Additional from the Location Maintenance Menu Bar.

  5.  Click CLIA Number.

• Creating a New Location CLIA Number, click More.

   

  Location CLIA Number Maintenance Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  Location Code	Displays the Location code for your reference. Tip:  If you are building a new Location CLIA Number, New  displays near the Location code.  Default entries display and the first field is highlighted to let you know you can begin entering information.
  	To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]
  	CAUTION To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.
  	Tip:  Search is not available for this maintenance.
  	To display an existing Location CLIA number, enter the  and click Retrieve, or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  CLIA Number	Enter your organization's CLIA number, if laboratory tests are processed at your facility.  (up to 20 characters)

   

• Editing an Existing Location CLIA Number, click More.

  CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.

  1.  To display the record to be changed, from Location Maintenance enter the Location code and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  

  2.  To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.

  3.  Enter the data changes.

  4.  To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER].
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]

   

• Deleting an Existing Location CLIA Number, click More.

  1.  To display the record to be deleted, from Location Maintenance enter the Location Code and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  

  2.  Click File from the Menu Bar, and next click Delete.
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [d]

  3.  At the Delete Records prompt, click Proceed to delete the record, or click Cancel to escape from the delete routine.
