Referral Type Maintenance

Use Referral Type Maintenance to maintain information about the types of referrals your practice uses.  While Referral Types are informational only, they can be used for tracking purposes.

Notes:  

• Do not confuse Referral Type Maintenance with Referral Type of Service Maintenance.  Referral Type Maintenance is a separate program from Referral Type of Service Maintenance and has a different function.

• Opening Referral Type Maintenance, click More.

   

  1.  Click File Maintenance from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click Standard Maintenance.

  3.  Then click Referral.

  4.  Click Additional from the Referral Maintenance Menu Bar.

  5.  Click Referral Type.
  
  Or, use the keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [m] [t] [ARROW DOWN].

   

  Referral Type Maintenance Window Example:

  

• Creating a new Referral Type, click More.

   

  Referral Type Maintenance Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  Referral Type Code	Enter the code assigned to the Referral Type.  (up to 3 characters) Tip:  If you are building a new Referral Type, New  displays near the Referral Type Code.  Default entries display and the first field is highlighted to let you know you can begin entering information.
  	To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]
  	CAUTION To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.
  	To view all of the existing Referral Types, click Search.  From the Search list you can select the record to change or delete. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + r]
  	To display an existing Referral Type, enter the Referral Type Code and click Retrieve, or press [ENTER] . Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Description	Enter the description for the type of referral.  (up to 30 characters)

   

• Editing an existing Referral Type, click More.

   

  CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.

  1.  To display the record to be changed, enter the Referral Type Code and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER]

  Tip:  If you do not know the Referral Type Code, you can click Search  to see a list of Referral Types.

  2.  To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.

  3.  Enter the data changes.

  4.  To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER]

• Deleting an existing Referral Type, click More.

   

  1.  To display the record to be deleted, enter the Referral Type Code and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER]
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Tip:  If you do not know the Referral Type Code, you can click Search  to see a list of Referral Types.

  2.  Click File from the Menu Bar, and next click Delete.
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [d]

  3.  At the Delete Records prompt, click Proceed to delete the record, or click Cancel to escape from the delete routine.
