Scheduling Specialty Maintenance

Use Scheduling Specialty Maintenance to maintain descriptions about provider specialties.  Specialties categorize the services provided and are assigned to providers.

Tips:  

• If you have several providers within a specialty you can search for available appointments by Specialty Code.

• For more information about working with data in fields, see Data Entry Guidelines.

Note:  It is important to create Specialty Codes prior to creating Scheduling Provider Codes.

To see directions for...

• Opening Scheduling Specialty Maintenance, click More.

   

  • Click File Maintenance from the Menu Bar, and next click Scheduling Maintenance; then click Specialty.

  • Or, use the keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [m] [c] [s].

   

• Creating a new Specialty, click More.

   

  To create a new record choose one of these methods:

  • Enter the new Specialty Code and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER] if the button is in focus.
    keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]

  • Or, enter the new Specialty Code and click File from the Menu Bar; next click New.
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [n]

  Tip:  To indicate that you are building a new specialty, displays near the Specialty Code.  Default entries display and the first field is highlighted to let you know you can begin entering information.

  Specialty Maintenance Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  Specialty Code	Enter a new code to be assigned to the specialty.  (up to 3 characters)  Required.
  	To update the new or changed information, click Save, or press [ENTER] if the button is in focus. keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]
  	CAUTION To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed Specialties.
  	To view all of the existing Specialties, click Search.  From the Search list you can select a Specialty Code to change or delete. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + r]
  	To display an existing specialty, enter the Specialty Code and click Retrieve, or press [ENTER] if the button is in focus. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Specialty Description	Enter the full description of the specialty. (up to 40 characters)
  Alternate Description	Enter the abbreviated description of the specialty. (up to 8 characters)

   

• Editing an existing Specialty, click More.

   

  CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed Specialties.

  1.  To display the record to be changed, enter the Specialty Code and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER] if the button is in focus.

  Tip:  If you do not know the Specialty Code, you can click Search to see a list of Specialties.

  2.  To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.

  3.  Enter the data changes.

  4.  To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER] if the button is in focus.

• Deleting an existing Specialty, click More.

   

  1.  To display the record to be deleted, enter the Specialty Code and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER] if the button is in focus.
  keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Tip:  If you do not know the Specialty Code, you can click Search to see a list of Specialties.

  2.  Click File from the Menu Bar, and next click Delete.
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [d]

  3.  At the Delete Records prompt, click Proceed to delete the record, or click Cancel to escape from the delete routine.
