Field Description - General Ledger Period

The General Ledger Period is the designation that uniquely identifies the account period.  Up to fourteen periods per year can be set up for each year.  Some facilities have one period for each month and a 13th period for closing entries.  Some facilities have thirteen four-week periods and a 14th period for closing.  During certain posting routines, such as, A/P Post Payments you can specify the GL Period to post the associated general ledger journal entries to.
