Field Description - Period Open Option

The Period Open Option is a setting that determines if you can post transactions to a period.

Options:

• Yes:  The period is open for transactions.

• No:  The period is closed to new transactions.
  Notes:

• The General Ledger prohibits making journal entries to closed periods.  You must open a period to generate a journal entry.  Then you can close it again.

• Periods are not closed automatically.  You must set this option to No to close a period.
