Unemployment Tax Table Maintenance (SUTA/UCI)
Use Unemployment Tax Table Maintenance (SUTA/UCI) to maintain state and federal unemployment tax rates and limits in the SUTA and UCI tables.

Tips:
Normally, if the rates change you must update the tax tables once each year - after generating W2s and before running the first payroll of the calendar year.

Opening Unemployment Tax Table Maintenance, click More.
Click Payroll from the Menu Bar.
Click Miscellaneous File Maintenance.
Click Table FM.
Click Numeric Tables.
Click
Unemployment Tax (SUTA & UCI).

Note: The tax limits and rates depicted in the following table are only an example. Actual tax withholding information is published annually.
Creating a new unemployment tax table, click More.
Note: You can not create any new unemployment tax tables. The necessary tables are created during the software installation and updates. To maintain the tax tables, see the instructions for editing later in this topic.
Editing the unemployment tax tables, click More.
CAUTION: To avoid losing data, you must save changed records.
To display the record to be changed, simply open Unemployment Tax Table Maintenance. The record automatically displays.
To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.
Enter the data changes.
To
complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER].

The program sets the Table IDs to SUTA and UCI. Tip: Although you only need to maintain one window, this maintenance is actually for two tables, each table containing a single record. | |

Enter the Table Title, which is an abbreviated name for the table. (up to 14 characters) | |
Enter the Table Description, which is the full name of the table. (up to 79 characters) | |

Enter the FUTA Limit, which is the annual gross earnings cap that determines the wage base for calculating the federal UCI. (6.2 numeric) | |
Enter the FUTA Rate used for calculating the federal UCI. (6.2 numeric) | |
STATE UNEMPLOYMENT TAX (SUTA) | |
The SUTA rate is set for your facility by each applicable state. To specify which state unemployment tax information you want to maintain, click the State Code in the drop-down list. (predefined) | |
Enter the SUTA Limit, which is the annual gross earnings cap that determines the wage base for calculating the state unemployment tax contribution. (6.2 numeric) | |
Enter the SUTA Rate used for calculating the state unemployment tax contribution. (6.2 numeric) Tip: The state determines your facility's SUTA rate, which is usually based on your facility's unemployment claim history. |
Deleting an existing unemployment tax table, click More.
Note: To maintain data integrity, you can not delete any unemployment tax tables.
