2.  Click Table FM.

3.  Click Numeric Tables.

4.  Click State Withholding Tax.

The tax table for your facility's State Code displays.
Tip
:  If your facility is not in Massachusetts, click 1 - Massachusetts in the drop-down list.

State Code

To display the tax table maintenance window for a state, click the State Code in the drop-down list and t.  (predefined)

Table ID

The program sets the Table ID to W/H 01.

Tip:  Massachusetts maintenance is for a single table containing a single record.

Base Allowance

Enter the Base Exemption Amount.  (6.2 numeric)

Dependent Exemption

Enter the State Dependent Exemption amount.  (6.2 numeric)

Tax Percent

Enter the State Tax Rate in whole numbers.  (6.2 numeric)

IMPORTANT:  If the rate is 5.3%, enter 530.00.

 

Tax Calculation Example - Massachusetts Taxpayer:

If a single person's annual gross wage is $20,000.00...

  • Less Base Allowance for self = $2,850.00

  • Less Dependent Exemption for 2 children = $1,000.00 X 2 = $2,000.00

  • Taxable Income = $20,000.00 - $2,850.00 - $2,000.00 = $15,150.00

  • Annual State Tax Withholding Amount = Tax Percent 5.30% X Taxable Income $15,150.00 = $802.95

Notes:

  • To determine the withholding amount for the paycheck, divide the annual withholding amount by the number of pay periods in the year.

  • This example is meant to illustrate how the tax table fields are used.  Actual tax rates, limits, and calculations may vary from this example according to current state formulas.

Blind Allowance

Enter the blind allowance amount.

FICA Allowance

Enter the FICA allowance amount.

HOH Allowance

Enter the head of household allowance amount.

To update the changed information, click Save or press [ENTER].

1.  Position the pointer to the information that you want to change.

2.  Enter the data changes.

3.  To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER].
