The Location Set Identifier Number is a special number assigned to identify the location as a lab that does testing for patients and your organization bills services for. The Identifier Number is used for billing purposes. For example, if your organization draws blood for patients' bloodwork and sends it out to a lab for testing, but you do the billing for the lab, then the lab location is assigned an Identifier to indicate that it is an outside lab that you are billing the insurance and patient for as a courtesy.
