Trade Level Maintenance

Use Trade Level Maintenance to maintain the codes and descriptions that define the level of expertise in a given Trade Class a technician can have.  For example, Trade Levels might include apprentice (AP), journeyman (J), craftsman (C), and master craftsman (M).  This allows you to group technicians by their level of skill.  You can assign a Trade Level to a technician to determine the calls they can be assigned to.

• Opening Trade Level Maintenance, click More.

   

  1.  Click Service Mgt from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click File Maintenance.

  3.  Click Miscellaneous.

  4.  Click Trade Level.
  
  Tip:  Or, use the keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [m] [f] [m] [l].

• Creating a New Trade Level, click More.

   

  To create a new record choose one of these methods:

  • Enter the new Trade Level and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]

  • Or, enter the new Trade Level and click File from the Menu Bar; next click New.
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [n]

  Tip:  To indicate that you are building a new Trade Level, New  displays near the Trade Level Code.  Default entries display and the first field is highlighted to let you know you can begin entering information.

   

  Trade Level Maintenance Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  Trade Level	Enter the code that uniquely identifies the Trade Level a technician can have. (up to 2 characters) Example Trade Levels: AP - for Apprentice J - for Journeyman C - for Craftsman MC - for Master Craftsman
  	To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]
  	CAUTION To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.
  	To view all of the existing Trade Levels, click Search.  From the Search list you can select the record to change or delete. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + r]
  	To display an existing Trade Level, enter the Trade Level and click Retrieve, or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Description	Enter the Description associated with the Trade Level. (up to 12 characters)

   

• Editing an Existing Trade Level, click More.

   

  CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.

  1.  To display the record to be changed, enter the Trade Level and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  
  Tip:  If you do not know the Trade Level, you can click Search  to see a list of Trade Levels.

  2.  To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.

  3.  Enter the data changes.

  4.  To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER].

• Deleting an Existing Trade Level, click More.

   

  1.  To display the record to be deleted, enter the Trade Level and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Tip:  If you do not know the Trade Level, you can click Search  to see a list of Trade Levels.

  2.  Click File from the Menu Bar, and next click Delete.
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [d]

  3.  At the Delete Records prompt, click Proceed to delete the record, or click Cancel to escape from the delete routine.
