Pro-Ration Utility

Use the Pro-Ration Utility to set up the records necessary for utility rate changes that involve pro-rating.  You can use this routine when there is a rate change in the middle of the billing period and you want to charge customers with the old rates for part of the billing cycle and the new rates for the rest of the billing cycle.  The Pro-ration Utility will copy each rate table to a corresponding pro-rate table.  In addition, the Transaction codes will be updated by copying the Minimum Charge and the Minimum Usage values to the Old Minimum Charge and the Old Minimum Usage fields.

Notes:  

• Pro-rating an individual customer's service that was started or stopped in the middle of the billing period is a different type of pro-rating and is handled in a different method.  For directions to enter this type of pro-rated bill, see Bill Entry - Entering Special Bills.

• All customers who should be billed entirely at the old rates must be billed before starting the Pro-Ration Utility.

• You must run the Pro-Ration Utility before you enter the new rates that will be used in pro-rating.

• Opening the Pro-Ration Utility, click More.

   

  1.  Click Utilities from the Menu.

  2.  Click Pro-Ration Utility.

  Pro-Ration Utility Prompts Tip:  For more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  	To begin the Pro-Ration Utility, click Proceed. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + p]
  	To escape from this routine without beginning, click Cancel. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + c]
  	When the Pro-Ration Utility successfully completes, this message displays: To close out of the routine, click Done. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + d] Note:  If the Pro-Ration Utility does not complete, a message alerts you.
