The Location CLIA Number is the number assigned by the state to the location if your facility performs and processes laboratory tests. The CLIA number only needs to be maintained if your organization performs laboratory tests for patients. CLIA refers to Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations. Congress passed the CLIA in 1988, establishing quality standards for all laboratory testing to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of patient test results, regardless of where the test was performed.
