Patient Letter Writer Instructions

Use the Patient Letter Writer Instructions to print a personalized letter for a patient that is currently displayed in Patient Entry.  For example, you can use this routine to easily print a personalized patient welcome letter or a missed appointment letter for a patient.

Tips:

• The patient letters are predefined and must be set up using the Add/Change/Delete Letter Formats routine in CURL.

• Do not confuse Batch Letter Writer and Patient Letter Writer with Patient Letters.  Letter Writer and Batch Letter Writer routines use predefined letters created during Add/Change/Delete Letter Formats routine in CURL.  The Patient Letters routines are separate routines and have separate functions that use XML to create the letters.

• This is sometimes referred to as Letter Writer.

• Opening the Patient Letter Writer, click More.

   

  1.  Click Reports from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click Letter Writer.

  3.  Click Patient Letter Writer.

• Choosing the Selections at the Prompt Window, click More.

   

  Patient Letter Writer Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  Letter #	Enter the number of the letter to print for the selected patient.  (3.0 numeric) Notes:   A patient account must be displayed in Patient Entry in order for a letter to print. The letters are created using the Add/Change/Delete Letter Formats routine in CURL.  For more information, contact NDS Support.
  Next Contact Date	Enter the next contact date, if applicable.   Note:  This field is only active if the letter requires a next contact date.
  	Displays the default printer number.  To change, enter another printer number.  For more information, see Printing Options.
  	If there is a forced entry for a field in the letter, click Check for Forced Entry. Note:  This prompt is only active if there is a forced field in the letter.
  Forced Entry Steps After clicking Check for Forced Entry, the following window displays:
  Forced Entry Field	Enter the value for the forced entry for this letter.  In this example the field is day.
  	To continue with the patient letters, click Continue. Note:  If there is another Forced field, after clicking Continue the next field will display and you will be prompted to enter the field value.
  Printing
  	To generate the letter, click Print, or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + p]
  	To escape from the letter print, click Cancel. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + c]
