The Scheduling Time Slot is a slice of time for a provider within a day that is displayed in the Scheduling Window - Appointment Book Area. Several fields make up the attributes of a time slot. You can schedule appointments for patients within time slots, and you can change the attributes of the time slots.
Time Slot Attributes: For each provider/date combination, the following fields can be associated with a Time Slot.
Appointment Time (Start Time)
Appointment Type ID, Appointment Category ID, or Appointment Set ID *
Patient Account Number (displays if setup during installation in Scheduling GUI Parameter Maintenance)
Tips:
A reserved time slot has an appointment scheduled in it.
An unreserved or open time slot has no appointments.
* Time slots only allow bookings for appointments with matching Appointment Type IDs. If a Category ID or Set ID is used in place of the Appointment Type ID when defining the time slot, then the new booking must have an Appointment Type ID that falls within the assigned Category or Set. However, you can enter an appointment with a mismatching Appointment Type ID by using the Appointment Override Window.
To facilitate double-booking and to avoid the necessity of forcing an appointment, it is possible to set up slices of time with multiple time slots. For example, you can have two time slots from 07:00 to 07:30. For additional information, see the Scheduling Time Slot Proc Count.
Another method to facilitate double-booking is the change the number of appointments allowed in a time slot. For additional information, see the Scheduling Time Slot # Preferred Appointments.
