Create Serial Number Maintenance

Use Create Serial Number Maintenance to maintain serial numbers or lot numbers and to assign them to inventory items.

Notes:

• Serial Numbers can only be assigned to inventory items with Item Type of Serialized.

• Create Serial Number Maintenance can be accessed from 3 separate routines - Serial Number Maintenance, Transaction Entry and Inventory Master Maintenance.

• Opening Create Serial Number Maintenance, click More.

   

  Create Serial Number Maintenance can be accessed in 3 ways.

   

  1.  Click File Maintenance from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click Serial Number Maintenance.

  3.  Click Create Serial Number .

   

  From Inventory Master Maintenance:

  1.  Click File Maintenance from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click Inventory Master Maintenance.

  3.  Enter the Item and Location to receive new serial numbers.

  4.  Click Serial/Lot Numbers .

  5.  Click Create Serial Number .

   

  Transaction Entry:

   

  1.  Click Transactions from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click Transaction Entry.

  3.  Select Transaction Type of Adjustment, Receipt, Sale or Transfer to add serialized inventory.

  4.  Enter the Item ID for the serialized item and the following window displays.

• Creating a New Serial Number, click More.

   

  Serial Number Create Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name. Note:  Certain fields may contain a value that can not be edited.  This depends on where the maintenance was accessed.
  Item	Enter the valid Item ID to be assigned a serial number.  (up to 45 characters) Tip:  To search for the appropriate Item, click Search .
  Location	To select the Location with the item to be assigned a serial number, click a choice in the drop-down list.
  Serial Number	Enter the serial number to be assigned to the item. (up to 45 characters)
  Quantity	Enter the quantity for the serial number. (numeric, decimal) Tip:  Generally the quantity is 1 for true serial numbers, but it may be larger or smaller for serial numbers used as lot numbers.
  	To update the new or changed information, click Create Serial Number.
  	CAUTION To avoid losing data, you must click Create Serial Number.
  	To escape without creating a serial number, click Cancel.

   

• Editing an Existing Serial Number, click More.

   

  You can not edit serial numbers during this maintenance.  To edit, use Serial Number Maintenance.

   

• Deleting an Existing Serial Number, click More.

   

  You can not delete serial numbers during this maintenance.  To delete, use Serial Number Maintenance.
