Location Maintenance

Use Location Maintenance to maintain the basic information for the various locations where inventory is kept.  You can set up locations to represent warehouses, trucks, stores, job sites or other places where inventory is kept.  All locations must be set up during this maintenance screen before they can be used elsewhere in the system.  Items are assigned to locations during Item Master Maintenance and Inventory Master Maintenance.

To see directions for...

• Opening Location Maintenance, click More.

   

  1.  Click File Maintenance from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click Location Maintenance.

• Creating a New Location, click More.

   

  To create a new record, enter the new Location ID and click Retrieve .

  Tip:  To indicate that you are building a new location, New!  displays near the Location ID.  Default entries display and the first field is highlighted to let you know you can begin entering information.

   

  Location Maintenance Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  Location ID	Enter a code that uniquely identifies the location.  (up to 10 characters) Required
  	To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER].
  	CAUTION To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.
  	To view all of the existing locations, click Search.  From the Search list you can select the record to change or delete.
  	To display an existing location, enter the Location ID and click Retrieve.
  Description	Enter the name or description of the location such as the name of the warehouse or the name of a vehicle where inventory is stored.  (up to 150 characters) Required
  Address 1 -3	Enter the address for the location.  If the location is a truck, you can use the address fields for vehicle identification information such as a registration number.  (1-3 lines, with up to 100 characters per line) For a physical location generally the 3 lines are assigned as seen below. Line 1 - street address Line 2 - building number or unit number, if needed Line 3 - City and state
  Zip Code	Enter the US Postal Zip +10 Code of the location.  (up to 12 characters)

   

• Editing an Existing Location, click More.

   

  CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.

  1.  To display the record to be changed, enter the Location ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
  
  Tip:  If you do not know the Location ID, you can click Search  to see a list of Locations.

  2.  To position the pointer at the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.

  3.  Enter the data changes.

  4.  To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER].
