Consumption Maintenance

Use Consumption Maintenance to edit consumption values that were generated from the Extract Consumption routine or the Extract Interim Consumption routine.  Generally you will extract the consumptions and then use Consumption Maintenance to edit consumption information before the consumptions are imported to the billing transaction file.  You can use this method of extracting and editing the consumptions if you do not use hand-held reading devices for certain connections.  The last column of the Consumption Maintenance window contains messages to alert users about exceptions or variances in the consumption data based on certain rules.  The extract consumptions are maintained in the ubcons table.

• Opening Consumption Maintenance, click More.

  1.  Click Daily Work from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click Billing.

  3.  Click Reading Tools.

  4.  Click Consumption Maintenance.

• Creating a New Consumption, click More.

   

  Note:  To maintain data integrity, Create new record is not available during Consumption Maintenance.

   

• Viewing and Editing an Existing Consumption, click More.

   

  CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.

  1.  First, build the Consumption workfile by running Extract Consumption or Extract Interim Consumption and then open Consumption Maintenance.  

  2.  To display consumptions that were extracted during Extract Consumptions, press [Enter] at the Location ID or Customer ID field.  This will cause all entries in the extract consumption file to display.

  3.  Scroll to the line to edit.

  4.  Click to highlight the desired line to change.

  5.  Enter the Last Read amount or enter the Current Read amount.

  6.  Click Save or press [Enter].

  7.  Continue editing until the appropriate readings have been edited.

   

• Deleting an Existing Consumption, click More.

   

  Note:  To maintain data integrity, Delete is not available during Consumption Maintenance.
