Street Index Maintenance

Use Street Index Maintenance to maintain street names and associated town names by code.  Street Indexes are used to enter customer service location information and ensure that street names are entered consistently.  During the customer Search routine and the Customer Inquiry you can search by Street Index by selecting the Inquire By Location Street Name option.  Searching by Street Index allows you to locate the customer name if you know the street address.

Tips:  

• To print a simple Street Index List, use the Search command.  To print the streets as they currently appear in the Search window, click the File menu, and then click Print.

• Opening Street Index Maintenance, click More.

   

  1.  Click Daily Work from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click File Maintenance.

  3.  Click Code Maintenance.

  4.  Click Miscellaneous Maintenance.

  5.  Click Street Index Maintenance.

• Creating a new street index, click More.

   

  To create a new record choose one of these methods:

  • Enter the new Street Index and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]

  • Or, enter the new Street Index and click File from the Menu Bar; next click New.
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [n]

  Tip:  To indicate that you are building a new street index, New  displays near the street index.  Default entries display and the first field is highlighted to let you know you can begin entering information.

  Street Index Maintenance Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  Street Index	Enter the unique Street Index number to be assigned to the street in a particular municipality. (4.0 numeric) Required
  	To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]
  	CAUTION To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.
  	To view all of the existing street indexes, click Search.  From the Search list you can select the record to change or delete. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + r]
  	To display an existing street index, enter the Street Index and click Retrieve, or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Street Name	Enter the full Street Name assigned to this Street Index. (up to 30 characters)
  City	Enter the full City name associated with the street. (up to 30 characters)
  State	Enter the U.S. Postal Service State Code for the city or town associated with the street. (2 characters)
  Zip	Enter the 5-digit Zip Code or the 9-digit Zip + 4 Code. (up to 10 characters)
  Town Name	Enter a 2-character abbreviation for the municipality name where the street is located. (2 characters)

• Editing an existing street index, click More.

   

  CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.

  1. To display the record to be changed, enter the Street Index and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
     Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
     
     Tip:  If you do not know the Street Index, you can click Search  to see a list of Street Indexes.

  2. To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.

  3. Enter the data changes.

  4. To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER].
     Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]

   

• Deleting an existing street index, click More.

   

  1. To display the record to be deleted, enter the Street Index and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
     Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
     Tip:  If you do not know the Street Index, you can click Search  to see a list of Street Indexes.

  2. Click File from the Menu Bar, and next click Delete.
     Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [d]

  3. At the Delete Records prompt, click Proceed to delete the record, or click Cancel to escape from the delete routine.
