Tax Table Maintenance

Use Tax Table Maintenance to maintain different sales tax rates on a monthly basis if needed.  For example, farmers may be assessed a sales tax rate that is different than the normal sales tax rate.  If a customer should be assessed a different sales tax than your standard rate, you can assign a tax table to the individual customer during the Create Customer Wizard.

• Opening Tax Table Maintenance, click More.

   

  1.  Click Daily Work from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click File Maintenance.

  3.  Click Code Maintenance.

  4.  Click Miscellaneous Maintenance.

  5.  Click Tax Table Maintenance.
  
  Tip:  Or, use the keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [y] [m] [c] [i] [ENTER].

• Creating a New Tax Table, click More.

   

  To create a new record choose one of these methods:

  • Enter the new Tax Table ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]

  • Or, enter the new Tax Table ID and click File from the Menu Bar; next click New.
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [n]

  Tip:  To indicate that you are building a new Tax Table, New  displays near the Tax Table ID.  Default entries display and the first field is highlighted to let you know you can begin entering information.

   

  Tax Table Maintenance Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  Tax Table ID	Enter the unique identifier for the tax table. (up to 5 characters) Required
  	To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]
  	CAUTION To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.
  	To view all of the existing tax tables, click Search.  From the Search list you can select the record to change or delete. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + r]
  	To display an existing tax table, enter the Tax Table ID and click Retrieve, or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Description	Enter the full description of the tax table. (up to 30 characters)
  January - December	Enter the sales tax rate for each month of the tax table. (3.2 numeric) Note:  You are required to maintain a sales tax rate for each month.

   

• Editing an Existing Tax Table, click More.

   

  CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.

  1.  To display the record to be changed, enter the Tax Table ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  
  Tip:  If you do not know the Tax Table ID, you can click Search  to see a list of tax tables.

  2.  To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.

  3.  Enter the data changes.

  4.  To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER].

• Deleting an Existing Tax Table, click More.

   

  1.  To display the record to be deleted, enter the Tax Table ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Tip:  If you do not know the Tax Table ID, you can click Search  to see a list of tax tables.

  2.  Click File from the Menu Bar, and next click Delete.
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [d]

  3.  At the Delete Records prompt, click Proceed to delete the record, or click Cancel to escape from the delete routine.
