Data Entry Guidelines

Keyboard Shortcuts

Learn about keyboard shortcuts, which are combinations of keys you can use to quickly choose menu options and to run certain operations in the application.

Search

To search the records in the application database:

• At the File menu, click Search.

• Or, click the Toolbar Search button.

• Or, click the Search icon next to a data field.
  Keyboard shortcut:  [CTRL + f]

• Or, click the window Search button.
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + r]

Fast Access Maintenance

To open the file maintenance window for a data field in order to review, edit or create a new code for that field:

• Click Fast Maintenance next to a data field .
  Keyboard shortcut:  [CTRL + o]

• Tip:  This is commonly used for a data field that is a code.

Fast Access Toolbar

To display a small floating toolbar containing buttons for quickly launching related programs and functions, select the appropriate menu option.

Tips:

• To move the toolbar, simply drag it to a new location.

• To change the toolbar so the buttons are oriented vertically, right-click in the toolbar, and then click Flip Vertical/Horizontal in the shortcut menu.

Wizards

To launch an interactive assistance routine that guides you through a complex task, click the Wizard's Hat .

Manipulating Windows

Learn how to minimize, maximize, and close the module window or windows within the module.

Launching Windows

Similarly to other Windows® applications, you can open multiple occurrences of windows on your screen.  This is very convenient to compare and contrast information.

Print View

Email

You can use email to contact a coworker, your manager, or to send information to NDS Technical Support.

Tip of the Day

Tip of the Day is an optional feature that displays a different tip each time you start the software module.

Icons

Learn about global icons and buttons used in the applications to enable you to quickly and easily perform functions or locate information.

Images

Certain programs provide the capability of storing one or more images linked to a specific record.  For example, you can store a picture of a house with the accompanying appraisal information or you can store a map to the house location to assist a utility service worker.

Note:  Image processing is not available in the all modules.
