Field Description - Posting Date
The Posting Date is the date of the journal entry transactions in the general journal. You can enter the Posting Date for any journal entries generated by General Ledger programs. You can even back-date the entries if desired.
Also called: Entry Date, Transaction Date, Journal Entry Date
Tips:
The Posting Date is associated with the individual transactions for the journal entries. It does not relate to the date that you run the Post Journal Entries routine.
The Posting Date does not determine the Period in which journal entries are posted. That is determined by the Period Number.
If the Check Closing Date Option is set to Y(es) during Application Option Parameters, and you enter a Posting Date that falls after the Period Closing Date during Enter Manual Transactions, you will see a warning. You can override the warning.
Where-Maintained: Enter Manual Transactions, Create Standard Entries, Create Recurring Entries, Create Step-Down Allocations, module interface programs
Where-Used: General Journal Inquiry
Format: Date (mmddccyy - slashes and century optional)
