Category Table Maintenance

Use Category Table Maintenance to group transaction codes or charges.  For example, you can assign all of your energy charges to a Category Table and all of your delivery charges to a different Category Table.  After you create the Category Table, you assign it to transaction codes during Transaction Code Maintenance.  Category Tables are used during the Meter Communications routines and for printing statements.

Notes:

• Generally, Category Tables are set up by NDS prior to installation.  For more information, contact NDS Technical Support.

• Generally, Category Tables are required if NDS or another third-party is printing customer statements.

• Opening Category Table Maintenance, click More.

   

  1.  Click Daily Work from the Menu Bar.

  2.  Click File Maintenance.

  3.  Click Code Maintenance.

  4.  Click Miscellaneous Maintenance

  5.  Click Category Table Maintenance.

• Creating a new Category Table, click More.

   

  To create a new record choose one of these methods:

  • Enter the new Category ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].

  • Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]

  • Or, enter the new Category ID and click File from the Menu Bar; next click New.
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [n]

  Tip:  To indicate that you are building a new category table, New  displays near the Category ID.  Default entries display and the first field is highlighted to let you know you can begin entering information.

  Category Table Maintenance Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  Category ID	Enter the unique identification for the category table. (up to 5 characters) Required
  	To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]
  	CAUTION To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.
  	To view all of the existing category tables, click Search.  From the Search list you can select the record to change or delete. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + r]
  	To display an existing category table, enter the Category ID and click Retrieve, or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Title	Enter the abbreviated title for the category table. (up to 20 characters)
  Description	Enter the full description for the category table. (up to 40 characters)

   

• Editing an existing Category Table, click More.

   

  CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.

  1.  To display the record to be changed, enter the Category ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].

  Tip:  If you do not know the Category ID, you can click Search  to see a list of Category Tables.

  2.  To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.

  3.  Enter the data changes.

  4.  To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER].

• Deleting an existing Category Table, click More.

   

  1.  To display the record to be deleted, enter the Category ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Tip:  If you do not know the Category ID, you can click Search  to see a list of category tables.

  2.  Click File from the Menu Bar, and next click Delete.
  Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [d]

  3.  At the Delete Records prompt, click Proceed to delete the record, or click Cancel to escape from the delete routine.
