Cash Receipts Process
The Cash Receipts programs are used to enter payments to customer accounts and process cash receipts. The typical cash receipts process is:
1. Import Electronic Cash Receipts, if applicable.
2. Enter and edit cash receipts using the Cash Receipts Entry program.
3. Generate and proof the cash receipts edit journal checking the cash receipts entered.
4. If you find incorrect transactions, delete them by following the directions in Cash Receipts Entry. After you delete the transactions, enter the transactions correctly, then re-print the cash receipts edit journal.
5. After making any necessary corrections to the cash transactions, print a cash receipts print journal of all the transactions entered. Maintain a final copy of this journal for a complete audit trail of the work you have done.
6. If you need to enter new cash receipts while you are performing the daily cash-up, enter these new receipts through the Next Day Cash Receipt program.
7. When all cash receipts transactions have been proofed and approved, backup your files in preparation for performing Post Cash Receipts.
8. Perform Post Cash Receipts to update the appropriate files with the cash receipts transaction information.
9. If receipts have been entered through the Next Day Cash Receipt program, they are transferred into the cash receipts transaction file during the Cash Receipts Post. Print the cash receipts print journal to verify that the next day receipts transferred to the daily cash receipts transaction file.
