Meter Testing Procedure

This topic describes the steps in the Meter Testing process.  Many types of meters also have test ports so that they can be tested and examined on a regular basis to evaluate whether they are functioning properly to help ensure that the service is delivered safely and correctly.

Meter Testing Process:

1.  Create the Meter during Meter Inventory Maintenance and maintain the following fields:

2.  Assign the Meter to a service connection using the Create Service Connection Wizard.

3.  Create the Meter Testing Workfile.
Tip:
The Meter Installed Date and the Test Frequency work together to determine if the Meter is due to be tested.

4.  Print and review the list of Meter devices to be tested.

5.  Print the XML Meter Testing Notices for mailing to the appropriate customers.

6.  After Meter tests have been performed, use Meter Workfile Maintenance to update the Meter testing record with the test date and test status.

7.  Run the Meter Testing Post to update the Meters with the Last Test Date, Test Status and add testing detail to the meter history.

Note:
When the Meter Testing Post is complete, you can view the Meter Testing Detail during Meter Inventory Maintenance.  In addition, you can view the updated Meter Last Test Date during the Service Connections Area of the Customer Inquiry.
