Payment Entry - Commit Payments Area

Use the Commit Payments Area to complete the payment transaction details.  The table following the window example describes the Commit Payments Area for Payment Entry.

Directions:

To display the Commit Payments Area in the Work Window:

  1. Open Payment Entry:

  1. Enter the Patient Account Number.

  2. Press [ENTER].

  3. Click Payment Entry in the Menu Tree.

  1. If applicable, review the Batch Entry Window, and then click OK .
    Note
    :  The Batch Entry Window automatically displays only the first time you open Payment Entry for the day.  However, you can reopen it manually from the Work Window, if needed.

  2. Enter the Transaction Detail information, and then click End Payments to display the Commit Payments Area.

Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.

Accept Assign?

Displays the default Accept Assignment option from the Insurance.

Entry Options:  You can only change the option if you are performing a transfer.

  • Y(es) - Accept assignment.

  • N(o) - Do not accept assignment.

Notes:  

  • This field only pertains to transfer transactions.

  • If the charge amount or charge's remaining balance is transferred to another insurance, the insurance's default value for the Accept Assignment displays.

Gen Claim?

To specify if you want to generate a new claim for the services transferred to a secondary insurer for an insurance responsibility ticket, click one of the following options in the drop-down list.  (Y/N)

  • Y(es) - Generate a new claim.

  • N(o) - Prevent a claim from being generated.

Note:  If the payment is made for an unbilled ticket, you must click Y(es) to generate a new claim.

Message Code

Enter an optional Remarks Code to assign a message to the payment, if applicable.  The message will print on the patient’s statement.  (up to 5 characters)

Note:  The assigned Message will not print on third-party claims.

Force Next Stmt?

To specify if you want to include the ticket in the patient's normal billing cycle, click one of the options in the drop-down list.  (Y/N)

  • N(o) - Include the ticket in the patient's normal billing cycle.  This is the default value.

  • Y(es) - Qualify the patient for a private statement within your next statement run.

Note:  NDS recommends accepting the default value of N(o) for Force Next Statement.  If you change Force Next Statement to Y(es), the patient will receive a statement in the next cycle, whether or not they are due to receive one.

To complete entry of the payment details, click Commit Payments or press [ENTER].

Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + o]

To cancel the payment transaction details, click Cancel Payments.

Note:  Use Cancel Payments to delete incorrect payment transaction details.  It will delete all associated uncommitted payment transaction details.  For more information, see Deleting a Payment Transaction in the Payment Entry - Overview.
