Field Description - State Tax Withholding Amount
The State Tax Withholding Amount is the dollar amount withheld from the employee's paycheck for state taxes. Check Entry automatically calculates the amount in the Standard Deductions Area, or you can enter it manually.
The calculation is based on one of the following tax tables maintained during State Withholding Tax Table Maintenance:
CT-xx: Connecticut State Tax
W/HM02: Maine State Tax - Married
W/HS02: Maine State Tax - Single
W/HC02: Maine State Tax - Couples/Two-Income
W/H 04: Maryland State Tax
W/H 01: Massachusetts State Tax
W/H 08: Michigan State Tax
New Hampshire - No state tax
W/HM05: Oregon State Tax - Married
W/HS05: Oregon State Tax - Single
W/H 06: Pennsylvania State Tax
W/HM03: Vermont State Tax - Married
W/HS03: Vermont State Tax - Single
The following fields affect the result of the calculation:
State Code: Determines which table to use
Marital Status Code: Determines which table to use
Deduction Exemptions: For state tax
Other Pay Exemptions: For state tax
Retirement Withholding Amount: Exempt from state tax in some cases
Pay Periods Per Year: Number of pay periods per year for each Run Code
Matched Annuity: Amounts increase the Gross Pay for the calculation.
