Patient Entry - Referral Authorization Procedure Area

Use the Referral Authorization Window Procedure Area to maintain a brief description of the procedures and associated Procedures Codes that the patient should have for the referral.  The table following the window example describes the Procedure Area for the Patient Entry - Referral Authorization Window.

Note:  If you maintain referral Procedure Codes and INSight's Managed Care parameter is set to verify Procedure Codes, charges attached to a referral must have Procedure Codes matching or falling within the range of the those maintained on the referral.

Directions:

To display the Procedure Area within the Referral Authorization Window:

  1. Open the Referral Authorization Window.
    Tip
    :  For details about opening windows, refer to the  Patient Reference Panel.

  2. Enter an Authorization Number.

  3. Click Procedure .

Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.

To update the new or changed information, click Save, or press [ENTER] if the button is in focus.

CAUTION

To avoid losing data, you must save the new or changed Referral Authorization.

Procedure Description

Enter a brief description of the procedures the patient will receive for this referral. (up to 50 characters)

Notes:

  • To enter fields From # 2, From # 3, From # 4,and From # 5, follow the same directions as for From # 1.

  • To enter fields Thru # 2, Thru # 3, Thru # 4, and Thru # 5, follow the same directions as for Thru # 1.

  • To enter a single Procedure Code, enter it as the From and Thru field entries.

Enter the beginning Procedure Code describing the patient's condition and relating to the patient's referral authorization. (up to 9 characters)

Enter the ending Procedure Code describing the patient's condition and relating to the patient's referral authorization. (up to 9 characters)

  • The procedure abbreviated description displays for your reference.

  • To search for a Procedure Code, click Search or press [CTRL + f].

  • To create a new procedure Code, click Fast Maintenance or press [CTRL + o].
