Register Patient Wizard

Tips:

For general information about the Wizard menu, window layout, and navigation, see the Wizard - Introduction.
The Register Patient Wizard launches the following sub-wizards, which are easily identified by the contrasting background color:
Patient Guarantor Wizard
Patient Insurance Wizard
Patient Policy Holder Wizard
Other methods for maintaining the patient information include:
Patient Entry: Includes more areas of maintenance than the Patient Wizards, such as Referral Authorization, Balance Detail, and Recall Logging. For more information about the two types of program, see the Comparison of Patient Entry and the Patient Wizards.

Load the patient:

To launch the patient Search, enter the patient's full or partial last name in the Patient Account Number and press [ENTER].

Tip: For more information about entering the Account Number, see Tips for Entering the Patient Account Number.
In the Search list, double-click the appropriate line to select the patient.

Open Scheduling.
To open the Patient Appointments Window, click Appts in the Patient Reference Panel.
Click to highlight a line in the Scheduled Appointments List Area.
Right-click to display the Scheduling Appointments Shortcut Menu.
Click Register.

Tip: To see an explanation of an area, the cursor becomes a hand when you position the cursor over the area. Click once to display the associated topic.

Note: This Wizard is only for maintaining existing patients. To register new patients, use the Register New Patient Wizard - Overview.

IMPORTANT: To avoid losing data, the wizard automatically saves your data when you click Finish .

Load the patient:

To launch the patient Search, enter the patient's full or partial last name in the Patient Account Number and press [ENTER].

In the Search list, double-click the appropriate line to select the patient.

Open Scheduling.
To open the Patient Appointments Window, click Appts in the Patient Account Number Area.
Click to highlight a line in the Scheduled Appointments List Area.
Right-click to display the Scheduling Appointments Shortcut Menu.
Click Register.
Because the Account Number is entered, the Wizard automatically advances to the Demographics step.

Tip: Confirm the patient's name in the Inquiry Area in the right pane. If you want to work with a different Patient Account Number, click Choose Patient in the Steps Area, and then enter the new Account Number.
To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.
Enter the data changes.
If there are any other steps requiring changes, navigate to the proper step.
To finish entry and save the changes, click Finish , or press [ENTER].
Keyboard shortcut: [ALT + s]

Note: To preserve patient history, you are not allowed to delete patient records.

Field Details by Step
Choose Patient	Contains the Patient Account Number.
Demographics	Contains the patient's name, address, marital status and other demographic information.
Additional Contact	Contains patient contact information such as the cell phone number, fax, email, and a contact person.
Additional Information	Contains additional patient information such as the employment status, student status, consent code and organ donor code.
Balance Information Comments	Contains three user-defined comments fields.
Patient Diagnosis	Contains up to three diagnosis codes for the patient.
Workers' Compensation	Contains disability and status information for patients with Workers' Compensation claims.
Workers' Comp. - User Defined	Contains fields defined by the Workers' Compensation Control Record. There are three date fields and eight alphanumeric fields that you can tailor to your practice's needs.
Remarks	Contains patient-specific remarks used for billing purposes.
Referral/Physician	Contains the patient's Provider and Referral Codes, if applicable.
Guarantor	Contains information about who is financially responsible for the patient's account. Launches the Patient Guarantor Wizard.
Employer Information	Contains employer information for the patient, which is needed if the patient has a workers' compensation related illness or injury.
Insurances	Contains the list of assigned insurances for the patient. Launches the Patient Insurance Wizard.
Remove/Review Patient Images	Allows you to view or remove existing images from the patient, such as scanned medical cards or the patient's photo ID.
Add Patient Images	Allows you to add images, such as scanned medical cards or the patient's photo ID, to the patient record.
